Euro 3 or 4 norm diesel-powered vehicles that provide assistance during emergency situations and rescue operations at the request of the fire brigade, police, army, civil protection agency or road authorities are allowed to enter the low-emission zone (LEZ) with a temporary permit. This transitional measure enables drivers to take measures towards 2025, when the entry requirements will become more stringent. The permit is only valid in Ghent and not in any other city with a low-emission zone.
