Description
- Do you have a Euro 4 standard diesel-powered vehicle used within the scope of markets, carnivals and itinerant trades? If this is the case, you can buy a permit at the regular price.
- Do you have a Euro 3 diesel-powered vehicle used within the scope of markets, carnivals and itinerant trades and does your vehicle meet one of the conditions mentioned below? If this is the case, you can exceptionally enter the low-emission zone with a permit at an increased price.
- Do you have a diesel powered vehicle that fails to meet the Euro 3 standard or a essence powered vehicle that fails to meet the Euro 2 standard used within the scope of markets and itinerant trades, and does your vehicle meet one of the additional conditions mentioned below? If this is the case, you can exceptionally enter the low-emission zone with a permit at an increased price II. Please note: this exception does not apply to carnival vehicles.
Conditions
Euro 3 (III) standard diesel-powered vehicles used within the scope of markets, carnivals and itinerant trades:
Your vehicle belongs to category M or N and is intended to be used within the scope of markets, carnivals and itinerant trades
or
Your vehicle belongs to the category M or N and is a vehicle that, regardless of its construction, already had a fixed (market) stand before 1 January 2020 (linked to a subscription granted by the City of Ghent). For each subscription, one (1) vehicle can also be regarded as a motor vehicle for itinerant trading and markets.
Diesel powered vehicle that fails to meet the Euro 3 standard or a essence powered vehicle that fails to meet the Euro 2 standard used within the scope of markets and itinerant trades:
Your vehicle belongs to category M or N and is intended to be used within the scope of markets and itinerant trades.
or
Your vehicle belongs to the category M or N and is a vehicle that, regardless of its construction, already had a fixed (market) stand before 1 January 2020 (linked to a subscription granted by the City of Ghent). For each subscription, one (1) vehicle can also be regarded as a motor vehicle for itinerant trading and markets.
Amount
The amount depends on the vehicle category and the period of validity of the permit. You can find your vehicle category on your vehicle's registration document in section J. You can apply for a permit for different periods of time: one week, one month, four months or one year.

Required documents
- picture of the front and rear of the vehicle with a clear view of the number plate which demonstrates that the vehicle is intended to be used within the scope of itinerant trades
- your itinerant trading permit for the employer or itinerant trader's card (Act of 15 December 1970)
- the European Certificate of Conformity
- your bank card and card reader (You have an appointment? Bring supporting documents and a bank card with you. Cash payments result in additional waiting time. Cheques are not accepted.)

Submit your application no earlier than 4 months in advance and no later than 1 day after entering the LEZ. This ensures that your number plate appears on the list of allowed vehicles in time and prevents you from being fined.
Note: The decision regarding your request is only final once you have received a confirmation. Processing your request can take up to 14 days. If you enter the Ghent low-emission zone before having received confirmation, you do so at your own risk. If it appears afterwards that your request was denied because you did not meet all requirements, you can be fined. You are therefore advised to register in advance.
