Illegally waiting and parking: for example, parking on a zebra crossing or in reserved spaces.

A GAS4 fine of 58 euros applies for this offence.

Illegal parking

Offence

You committed one of the offences of illegal parking and waiting, as described in the GAS4 police regulations on waiting and parking.

Amount of fine

The amount of the fine depends on the category of the offence. If you park against the direction of traffic, this attracts a fine of 58 euros (category 1). For more serious offences, such as illegally parking in a parking space reserved for disabled persons, a GAS4 fine of 116 euros (category 2) is issued.

How to appeal a GAS4fine for traffic offences: Appeals should be submitted within 30 days of the date of notification stated in the fine letter. All appeals or notices arriving after these 30 days are inadmissible and will not be processed. You should not make payment before you have received a decision on your appeal. For offences concerning illegal parking in category 2 (116 euros) only, you can apply to appeal orally by sending an e-mail to gasverkeer@stad.gent or by writing to Stad Gent - GAS Parkeren, Botermarkt 1, 9000 Ghent, Belgium.
The sanctioning official will consider your application on the basis of the case. If an oral appeal is admitted, an appointment will be arranged for you to provide an explanation, electronically (e.g. via Microsoft Teams) or during an in-person meeting in the office.

What if you were not the driver at the time of the offence?

You should provide the identity details and a declaration from the driver on the form below and send it to the contact named on your fine letter. You should do this within 30 days of the date of notification stated in the fine letter.

The fine in your name is then closed and a new fine is sent to the driver.
