Registration for the LEZ: vehicle used as 'adapted public transport'

For an unauthorised vehicle used as adapted public transport, you can apply for an exemption.

What is it about? 

The adapted vehicle is intended as transport for persons with a disability* who cannot travel from stop to stop by public transport. The adapted transport services pick people up from their homes and accompany them to their destination. 

The registration is valid until 31 December 2025. 

How much does it cost? 

The registration is free. 

What do you need? 

  • the registration certificate 
  • a photo with number plate and the characteristics of the adapted public transport clearly visible 
  • the 'adapted public transport' recognition

Make sure your vehicle is registered no later than 1 day after you entered the low-emission zone. That way, you will avoid a fine. 

Please note: The decision on your application is not final until you receive confirmation. The processing of your application may take up to 14 days. If you enter the low-emission zone in Ghent before receiving confirmation, you do so at your own risk. If your application is subsequently rejected, you may receive a fine. It is therefore best to register in advance.
