Ditto at the Atheneum, according to a survey on sustainable food conducted by some 6th-year students. Both schools want to contribute to a healthier planet. They decided to take a closer look at the range of sandwiches in their joint school restaurant. And they would also like a more varied offer in their school restaurant.</span></p>\n \n </div>\n\n\n\n \n<div class=\"quote-wrapper\">\n <div class=\"quote\">\n <blockquote>\n <div class=\"content\">\n <p>\n I am happy with a healthier and more sustainable offer in the school restaurant. An animal-free offer is the easiest option.\n </p>\n </div>\n <footer>\n Marie-Lou, 12 years old, Student at GO! secondary school Voskenslaan and member of the student council\n </footer>\n </blockquote>\n </div>\n</div>\n\n <div class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full\">\n \n\n\n <h2><span lang=\"NL\"><strong>Sandwich fillings examined</strong></span></h2><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The students put their own fillings on their sandwiches (prepared meat, chicken curry, egg salad, tuna, ham, cheese, etc.) and a portion of vegetables. Could this have been done differently?</span></p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">A working group consisting of teachers from campus Voskenslaan and a policy officer from the Middenschool investigated the possibilities of offering more plant-based fillings with the sandwiches.</span></p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The person in charge of taking all the orders was also involved. They looked at the budget, packaging options and the nutritional scores of the toppings. Of course, a tasting session was also essential. 3 spreads were selected for a tasting session for the student councils of both schools. With success!</span></p><h2><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Thursday Veggie Day</span></h2><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Through the </span><a href=\"https://schoolfood4change.eu/\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\">SchoolFood4Change</span></a><span lang=\"EN-GB\"> project, the project wants to ensure that there is a larger vegetarian offer in the school restaurant. The schools would like to introduce a vegetarian-only offer on Thursdays, both for the hot meals and for the sandwich fillings. In addition, the school also wants to offer more plant-based choices for the sandwich fillings on other days.</span></p><h2><span lang=\"NL\"><strong>1550 pieces of toast</strong></span></h2><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Every partner did their utmost to offer the new fillings as soon as possible. Launch day was a surprise for the rest of the school. Members of the working group and some other students set up a toast spread factory in the afternoon. They made no less than 1550 pieces of toasts for all students of both schools! The fact that the toppings were plant-based remained a secret until after the tasting so as not to influence the taste buds </span><span>\U0001F609</span><span lang=\"EN-GB\">The unveiling was a Focusing on health also means paying attention to a pleasant place to eat.</span></p><p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Currently, the hot meals on Thursday have not yet been tackled.
