De Stad Gent trok naar dit maatwerkbedrijf en sprak er met Marnix.</p>\n\n<h2>Groot hart voor mensen die nood hebben aan hulp</h2>\n\n<p>\"Vzw De Kromme Boom is een verhaal dat 40 jaar geleden startte. Mijn vader had een bloemisterij en samen met vrienden had hij al lang de wens om iets te doen voor anderen. Hun plan: niet te veel praten, gewoon doen en zien waar ze uitkwamen. De eerste jongen die kwam aankloppen zat psychisch zwaar in de knoei. Hij had onmiddellijk hulp nodig. Zo waren we meteen gestart, hij werd gewoon opgenomen in ons gezin. Ik was toen 13 jaar. Hij reed mij van de baan als ik met mijn fietsje thuiskwam van school en toch mocht hij blijven. Na die eerste jongen kwam een volgende en nog \u00E9\u00E9n en nog \u00E9\u00E9n \u2026</p>\n\n<p>De wil om mensen die met zichzelf in de knoop lagen te begrijpen en te helpen, was erg groot. Toeval of niet: op een keer kregen we een hulpvraag van een psychiater die het zelf moeilijk had. Hij bracht het therapeutisch model binnen. Begrijpen waarom iemand disfunctioneert en samen zoeken naar wat die nodig heeft om zich goed te voelen en behoorlijk te kunnen functioneren. </p>\n\n<p>De bewoners blijven zolang het nodig is. We stellen geen termijn, de tijd die ze nodig hebben, mogen ze gebruiken. Steeds opnieuw zien we dat we moeten teruggaan naar hun jeugd en hun band met de ouders. Iedereen heeft een rolmodel nodig. Dat is in de natuur ook zo: een jonge aap leert van een oude, waarom zou dat voor een mens anders zijn? Het geldt ook voor mezelf: ik heb alles geleerd van mijn ouders, in het bijzonder van mijn vader.\"<br>\n </p>\n \n </div>\n\n <div class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--image class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full\">\n \n\n\n <h2>Re-integratie in de maatschappij</h2>\n\n<p>\"Ons doel is na al die jaren nog altijd hetzelfde: zorgen dat mensen opnieuw kunnen functioneren en op termijn kunnen re-integreren in de maatschappij. Een dagelijkse structuur is hierbij belangrijk: een zinvolle dagbesteding, ontspanning en gezonde nachtrust, het is alle drie even belangrijk. Iedereen die bij ons komt aankloppen heeft een rugzak, enerzijds gevuld met problemen, maar vooral ook met veel talenten. Die worden tijden de dagbesteding verder ontwikkeld. Deze talenten bepalen voor een groot deel de richting van De Kromme Boom. </p>\n\n<p>We hadden al ateliers voor hout- en metaalbewerking en in 2020 zijn we met een nieuwe activiteit gestart: onze bio-oesterzwamkwekerij. We hebben daarmee een uniek product \u00E9n er zijn genoeg verschillende taken om iedereen op een waardevolle manier in te zetten. En het gaat veel verder dan enkel de oesterzwammen oogsten. We maken en doen alles zelf: van ventilatoren tot de afvoergootjes, van technieken tot digitale uitdagingen.\" </p>\n\n<h2>Maatwerkbedrijf</h2>\n\n<p>Naast de groep mensen die hier inwoont en meewerkt, is de oesterzwamkwekerij ook een maatwerkbedrijf. Dagelijks zijn er zo\u2019n 27 mensen actief, ieder met zijn eigen talenten en mogelijkheden. Iedereen heeft nood aan iets anders en daar houden we rekening mee. Heeft iemand behoefte aan een gesprek, dan laten we het werk stilvallen. Dat is vaak balanceren op een slappe koord, zorg dragen voor het individu en tegelijkertijd economisch bezig zijn. Onze oesterzwammen vind je in de Delhaize en onze shiitakes in de Colruyt, maar ook in ons eigen verkooppunt of bij lokale ondernemers.</p>\n\n<p>Het ontstaan van de oesterzwamkwekerij is een grote omwenteling binnen onze werking en het vroeg heel wat aanpassingen bij iedereen. Maar we leveren een bijzonder gezond en lekker product dat lokaal, sociaal en duurzaam is. Daar kunnen deel van uitmaken, geeft aan alle werknemers een warm en voldaan gevoel. </p>\n\n<p>Na 40 jaar zien we dat ons werk nog altijd heilzaam is. Samen met mijn vrouw en zus zet ik het werk van mijn vader verder. En ook een van onze dochters is dit jaar mee in het verhaal gestapt. De Kromme Boom is niet zomaar een job.
