class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--text paragraph--view-mode--full\">\n \n\n\n <h2>Opleiding en leren on the job</h2>\n\n<p>\"Meer dan vroeger moet je je ook als werkgever onderscheiden, in wat je aanbiedt en in de omgeving waarin je je personeel laat werken. Alleen als je werknemers zich goed voelen, kunnen zij zorgen voor een beleving waarin de gasten zich goed voelen. Wij leiden ook steeds meer zelf mensen op. Ook Sergil heeft na zijn stage eerst nog een beroepsinlevingsstage (BIS) bij ons gedaan. Het gaat om de drive eerder dan om het diploma. Hier werken niet zo veel mensen met specifieke horecadiploma\u2019s.\"</p>\n\n<p>Yalo opende de deuren in oktober 2021, telt 92 kamers, een restaurant en twee bars. Goed voor 45 fulltime personeelsleden aangevuld met studenten en flexi\u2019s. Van bij het begin liet Yalo de vereiste om Nederlands te spreken los. \"Gelukkig kan dat in een stad als Gent, al kregen we in het begin soms tegenstand van gasten. Intussen is dat wel veranderd. Als je je beperkt tot Nederlandstaligen wordt je poule om personeel te vinden wel heel klein. Als je zeven dagen op zeven wil open zijn, kun je je dat niet permitteren. Het is hier ook een goede omgeving om Nederlands te leren. Anderstaligen kunnen hier werken en leren on the job.\u2019</p>\n\n<h2>Sergil uit Oekra\u00EFne</h2>\n\n<p>Al drie keer verwelkomde Yalo een stagiair van de bartenderopleiding. \"Zo zijn we ook in contact gekomen met Sergil. De klik was er en hij doet het heel goed. Je kan natuurlijk niet verwachten dat iemand op een paar weken tijd een volledig getrainde bartender is. Dat duurt jaren. Maar de cursisten verwerven wel een basis van waaruit ze on the job verder kunnen leren. Wij kijken naar inzicht, werktempo, interesse en vriendelijkheid naar de klanten. En naar de wil om te blijven bijleren. Dat zijn de profielen die wij zoeken.\"</p>\n\n<p>Geen wonder dat het klikte met Sergil: \"In Oekra\u00EFne zeggen ze altijd dat je je moet omringen met mensen die meer weten dan jezelf, zij kunnen je tot een hoger niveau tillen. Dat was in de bartenderopleiding zeker het geval: alle lesgevers hadden hun eigen expertise. De ene trainer wist alles over de koffie, de andere over cocktails, iemand vertelde ons alles over de werking in de horeca \u2026 En ook hier bij Yalo leer ik veel bij, nu van mijn collega\u2019s. Het is een werkplek waar ik kan tonen wat ik kan, maar me ook verder kan blijven ontwikkelen. Dat mijn Nederlands nog niet zo goed is, was gelukkig geen probleem. Ook daar helpen ze mee. In restaurants en caf\u00E9s werken wel vaker mensen met verschillende achtergronden en nationaliteiten. Dat verrijkt onze wereld, we vullen elkaar aan. En geen betere plek om een taal te oefenen dan in de horeca.\"</p>\n \n </div>\n\n <div class=\"paragraph paragraph--type--call-to-action paragraph--view-mode--full cta-block image-none link\">\n \n <div class=\"cta-block__content\">\n <div class=\"feature-block secondary\">\n <h2>Stageplaats in de aanbieding? </h2>\n\n \n\n <p>Van 16 oktober tot 17 december vindt opnieuw de bartenderopleiding in Gent plaats, een samenwerking tussen Diageo, Horeca Forma, VDAB en de Stad Gent.
