Each restricted traffic area has its own entry point.

Ghent has 5 separate restricted traffic areas (1, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Entry points

Each restricted traffic area has its own entry points.

A permit has, depending on permit category, predefined entry points through which you may enter you restricted traffic area. These predefined entry points depend on the destination and category of the permit. Some categories allow access through any entry point of any restricted traffic area, some have permission to determine the entry points through which they will enter the restricted traffic area and others are given a couple of entry points through which they may enter.

Entry points - restricted traffic area 1

  • Entry points 1A: Geldmunt, Wijzemanstraat;
  • Entry points 1B: Kammerstraat, Onderstraat, Hoogpoort, Botermarkt, Bisdomkaai, Limburgstraat;
  • Entry points 1C: Limburgstraat, Gouvernementstraat, Mageleinestraat (before 11am and past 6pm), Sint-Niklaasstraat;
  • Entry points 1D: Sint-Niklaasstraat, Koophandelsplein, Hoornstraat, Sint-Michielshelling, Drabstraat.

Overview

  • Residents and suppliers located in a restricted traffic area
    This group has access to the restricted traffic area in which the domicile of the applicant is located or in which the supplier is situated. This group may enter through all entry points of that restricted traffic area (in restricted traffic area 1 this implies access through all entry points of all subareas).
  • Garage or parking space; hotel; company with garage or parking space situated in a restricted traffic area; private transport of people with reduced mobility in a restricted traffic area; markets and events
    This group has access to the restricted traffic are in which the garage, hotel, company, destination or market is located. This group may enter through all entry points of that restricted traffic area (in restricted traffic area 1, this group may enter only through the entry points of the subarea in which the garage, hotel, company, destination or market is located.
  • Supplier of medical services; execution of works; loading and unloading
    This group request access to a specific restricted traffic area in which the delivery, execution of works or loading and unloading takes place. In restricted traffic area 1, this group chooses the subarea (and entry points) through which they would like to enter the restricted traffic area. Access to the restricted traffic area is only allowed through all entry points of the chosen subarea.
  • Organised transport of people with reduced mobility, health care provider, utility providers
    This group has access to all restricted traffic areas (and all subareas) through all entry points.
