Vehicles that meet the entry requirements will automatically be granted access to the low emission zone (LEZ) as much as possible. For some vehicles this is impossible as the City of Ghent does not have access to all information. These vehicles always need to be registered first. Registration is mandatory for foreign vehicles (except for Dutch vehicles).
You want to register your vehicle? See how it works.
Did you buy a vehicle that is not automatically authorised? Then you have to re-register your new vehicle, even if you keep your license plate. The free registration is linked to the registration date of your vehicle. A previous registration is therefore no longer valid.
Did you forget to register in time and get fined? Then see if you are eligible for a late registration.
