Welcome in Ghent!

As an expat, you recently arrived in our city. We are pleased that you have chosen Ghent. Your presence and that of other internationals not only adds to our strong reputation as a ‘city of knowledge’, it gives a boost to our local economy and an international flair to the city.

Ghent boasts a unique mixture of historical and contemporary architecture, events, museums of international repute, a gastronomic palette, an animated nightlife, and much more. In short, everyone will find something that suits his or her needs.

We hope that you will enjoy your time in our marvelous city. And we are keen to inform you as a (temporary) citizen in our city, keep in touch and let you co-create Ghent. To that end we invite all international talent that has arrived in Ghent during the last twelve months to a reception in the City Hall (Pacificatiezaal, Botermarkt 1, 9000 Gent) on Friday 13 September 2019 at 6 p.m.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family at the event, organized by the City of Ghent in collaboration with Community Gent*.

The program:

  • Welcome speech by the City Mayor, Mathias De Clercq and Deputy Mayor for Civil Affairs, Mieke Van Hecke
  • Small reception
  • Guided tour in City Hall

This event is free of charge. The number of people that can attend is limited, so please register as soon as possible via the following link.
