Ghent strengthens integration of newcomers through European project CONSOLIDATE
Ghent is participating in a European project that strengthens the integration of newcomers through collaboration and innovative services.
Ghent is participating in CONSOLIDATE, a European project aimed at strengthening the integration of refugees and migrants. Together with 11 other cities and under the coordination of Eurocities, Ghent is working on innovative solutions that make a real difference at the local level.
The project focuses on:
- Access to employment for newcomers.
- Support towards independent living.
- Development of One Stop Shops, where people can access help and information in one central location.
In addition, the partners address three major challenges:
- Improved data sharing between services.
- Integration approaches tailored to women.
- The transition from emergency aid to long-term support.
As part of this initiative, Ghent aims to further develop its One Stop Shop into an accessible and efficient gateway to legal assistance, employment, volunteering, and social support – regardless of residence status.
Together, we are building a Europe where newcomers can find their place more quickly.
Partners
Alongside Ghent, cities such as Athens, Milan, Vienna, Dortmund and Zagreb are involved. Expert partners include MigrationWork CIC and the European Network of Migrant Women.
Budget
The project runs from March 2024 to February 2027 and is funded by the European Commission through the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF). Ghent receives €101,769.84 in EU funding.
