The City of Ghent is pleased that more and more expats move to Ghent. Their presence not only adds to the city's strong reputation as a ‘city of knowledge’, it gives a boost to the local economy and an international flair to the city.

Ghent boasts a unique mixture of historical and contemporary architecture, events, museums of international repute, a gastronomic palette, an animated nightlife, and much more. In short, everyone will find something that suits his or her needs.

The City of Ghent hopes that expats will enjoy their time in Ghent. And as a ‘city of people’ we are keen to inform expats, keep in touch and let them co-create the city.

To that end we invite all those who have arrived in Ghent during the last twelve months to a reception of new expats in the City Hall (Oostenrijks salon, Botermarkt 1, 9000 Gent) on Friday 15 September 2017 at 6 p.m.

The program:

Welcome speech by the City Mayor Daniël Termont and Deputy Mayor Sofie Bracke (responsible for Civil Affiars)

Small reception

Guided tour in City Hall

This event is free of charge but please register.

RegisterClick here to fill in subscription form

The evening is organised in co-creation with Community Gent. This is an organisation which puts a lot of effort in bringing people together and offering them the possibility to get acquainted with our city and share experiences and information. In order to achieve that, Community Gent organises events and get-togethers.

As an extra Community Ghent offers the opportunity at 8 p.m. on 15 September to participate at Studio Skoop (Sint-Annastraat 63, 9000 Gent) in an exclusive avant-première for Community Gent Expats of “Mother”, a film by Darren Aronofsky (USA, 2017, 115 min.), with Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer,…The film is a big mystery and the trailer raises a lot of questions. Not a lot is knows on the plot of this film but the mystery around it is very tempting! Subscription is necessary: price per person is 15 euro (entrance + drink included afterwards).

MailClick here to mail for more info
